About Calder & Rowe

Calder and Rowe Realty team meeting
Our Story

Started at a kitchen table in Montford

Calder & Rowe Realty was founded in 2014 by Nora Halstead and Marcus Oyelaran, two agents who had grown frustrated watching national franchises apply the same playbook to Asheville's wildly different neighborhoods - as if a 1920s Montford craftsman and a new build in Weaverville required the same approach.

They started the firm with a simple rule: every agent has to actually know the streets they sell. No templated comps, no generalized advice - just people who live in these neighborhoods, walk these sidewalks, and can tell a buyer exactly what to expect from a specific block.

Eleven years later, that rule still holds. We've grown to a small team of four agents and closed more than 480 transactions, but we've turned down the growth that would have meant hiring agents who didn't already know Asheville inside and out.

How We Work

What sets a boutique brokerage apart

Hyper-local knowledge

Every agent specializes in a handful of neighborhoods, not the entire metro area, so you get block-level insight instead of generic comps.

Straight answers

If a home isn't right for you, or a listing is priced wrong, we'll say so - even when it's not what you want to hear.

Full-cycle support

From first showing to final walkthrough, one agent stays with you the whole way - no hand-offs to a transaction coordinator you've never met.

Want to know what your neighborhood is doing right now?

Calder & Rowe agents are happy to talk through local market conditions with no obligation.
